MATHEW A. WHITE, PH.D.
Mathew A. White PhD FACE is an Associate Professor of Education (Level D: Reader), Deputy Head of the School of Education, Director of the Master of Education, and Chair of the Enhancing Educational Outcomes Research Group at the University of Adelaide. Mathew is also a Principal Fellow and Associate Professor in Melbourne Graduate School of Education at the University of Melbourne.
Mathew's research focuses on educational leadership, strategic planning, and wellbeing. He has co-edited three books on wellbeing education, including "Future Directions in Wellbeing: Education, Organizations, and Policy" (Springer, 2017). Forthcoming publications include a co-edited research book with Professor Faye McCallum "Critical Perspectives on Teaching, Learning and Leadership: Enhancing Educational Outcomes" (Springer, 2020) and a co-authored research book with Professor Faye McCallum "Wellbeing Education and Professional Practice: Transforming Teaching" (Springer, 2021).
Mathew is a member of the Australian Association for Research in Education (AARE), Australian Teacher Education Association (ATEA), American Educational Research Association (AERA) and British Educational Research Association (BERA). In 2020 he was given the Distinguished Contribution to Research in Educational Leadership Award by the South Australian Branch of the Australian Council for Educational Leaders (ACEL-SA). He was awarded the 2017 Australian Council for Educational Leaders (ACEL-SA) South Australian Leadership Medal and a National Leadership Award, and a South Australian Leadership Medal. He is a Fellow of the Australian College of Educators (FACE).
Before his appointment to the University of Adelaide in 2018, Mathew held senior leadership positions in schools for a decade. He has over 20 years of senior secondary teaching experience.
